Firefighter Sues His Department, City In Northern Westchester For Discrimination Claims
A firefighter is suing the Northern Westchester department he has spent nearly 20 years with for allegedly discriminating against him and denying him recognition of his professional achievements. Robert Pappas, a 19-year member of the Peekskill Fire Department, filed a lawsuit in federal court on Tuesday, Sept. 26 against the city of Peekskill, the Peekskill Fire Department, and Peekskill Fire Chief James Seymour IV. US Sues Municipality In Westchester For Discrimination
The United States has filed a lawsuit against a Westchester County municipality and its fire department, alleging that they discriminated and retaliated against a female firefighter who reported that a male senior firefighter had harassed and stalked her. Strengthened Sexual Harassment Policy Goes Into Effect For Westchester County Employees
With the #MeToo era in full swing, elected officials in Westchester are implementing a zero-tolerance policy in regards to sexual harassment. Just weeks after a Yonkers sugar refinery worker won a $13.4 million lawsuit against American Sugar Refining - the maker of Domino’s Sugar - a second employee has won a lawsuit claiming workplace discrimination.
