A man has been apprehended following a stabbing that resulted in a woman being found bloodied on a public street in Westchester, officials announced. Four people attending a vigil in Westchester were shot, leaving one in critical condition with a bullet wound to the head. The incident took place in Mount Vernon around 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 333 South 8th Ave. According to city officials, the police department responded to the area of 333 South 8th Avenue on a report of multiple people shot. A police sergeant in Westchester was injured attempting to apprehend a man with a firearm, officials announced. Detectives from the Mount Vernon Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit spotted a group of four people arguing on Monday, Nov. 15 in the area of South 8th Avenue and West 2nd Street. A city employee in Westchester was one of two arrested following an investigation into shots fired earlier this month following a gambling dispute, police said. An investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed outside a Westchester home. Gunshots rang out on South 8th Avenue in Mount Vernon at approximately 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 6, officials said, though details of the shooting have been scarce. The shooter of an 18-year-old who was fatally shot in Westchester remains at large, police said. Police confirm that the teen was shot in Mount Vernon on South 8th Avenue, between First and Second Street at approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29. The shooter has not yet been apprehended.
