Shrub Oak Man, 28, Faces DWI Charge After Traffic Stop
A man from Shrub Oak is facing DWI charges after he was pulled over for a traffic infraction, police say. A Yorktown police officer initiated a traffic stop on Glen Road on Saturday, March 16 around 3:30 a.m. The officer pulled the vehicle over after observing the driver fail to keep right while driving with an obstructed view. Further investigation revealed that the driver, identified as 28-year-old Oliverio Mejia, Jr. of Shrub Oak, was allegedly driving while intoxicated. Teen Killed By Gunshot Wound Remembered For Love Of Outdoors, Video Games
The 17-year-old who died after an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound is being remembered for his love of the outdoors and video games. The announcement of the incident, which occurred on Friday, Feb. 1, was made on Thursday, Feb 7 by Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Michael P. Donovan Jr. of Cobleskill, formerly of Somers, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the age of 23. He was born in Carmel on May 31, 1995, the son of Michael Sr. and Sherri See Donovan and was a 2013 graduate of Somers High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor's degree at SUNY Cobleskill. Three men have been arrested and charged for their roles in the fatal shooting of a man in Northern Westchester over the summer. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Thursday that three men have been arraigned for the July 13 fatal shooting of 22-year-old Bronx resident Khalil Lyons in Peekskill. Nicolas De La Pava, a football standout at the high school and collegiate levels who went on to start his own business in Northern Westchester, died on Tuesday, Aug. 7 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Northern Westchester Man, 23, Second Suspect Charged In Fatal Shooting
A second man has been implicated in the fatal shooting of a man in Northern Westchester last month, authorities announced on Wednesday. Shrub Oak resident Sean Deleon, 23, was arrested by the Peekskill Police Department and charged with second-degree murder for his alleged role into the shooting of 22-year-old Khalil Lyons in Peekskill on July 13. On July 27, a Peekskill teenager, Demetrius Bogan, 18, was also charged with murder following the three-week investigation. An incident at a Shrub Oak gas station led to a fight between two men, one of whom is facing an assault charge after punching his victim in the face, according to police. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department has been busy of late, busting a pair of motorists who were allegedly operating their vehicles under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Man, 21, Killed In One-Vehicle Northern Westchester Crash
A 21-year-old man was killed after driving into a utility pole in an early morning crash on Route 202 near Yorktown Police Headquarters. Police are investigating the crash that took the life of Yorktown resident Alexander Delic, who was killed in a one-vehicle crash at approximately 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Delic was pronounced dead upon the arrival of first responders. The crash is actively being investigated.
