Hudson Valley Man Admits Trying To Rape Young Child: 'Vile, Unspeakable Act'
A 45-year-old Hudson Valley man faces more than a decade in prison after admitting to trying to engage in sexual conduct with a young child, officials announced.
Orange County resident James Pospisil of Port Jervis pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted rape, Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler announced on Tuesday, June 25.
According to Hoovler's office, between Friday, December 22, 2023, and Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, Pospisil tried engaging in sexual intercourse with a child younger than 11 years old.

Found: 28-Year-Old Hudson Valley Mother Of 3 Had Been Missing Since July
A 28-year-old Hudson Valley woman who went missing nine-and-a-half months ago has been found.
Orange County resident Heather Callas, of Port Jervis, a mother of three who was reported missing Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, by her mother, had not been seen or heard from since Saturday, July 2.
Callas left voluntarily and was believed to have traveled to New York City, according to the Port Jervis Police Department.
On Friday, April 14, the Port Jervis PD announced Callas was located Thursday evening, April 13.
"She is safe and is no longer missing," the department said.

ID Released For Man Hit, Killed By Metro-North Train In Hudson Valley
Officials have released the identity of a man who was killed after being struck by a Metro-North train in the area.
The incident occurred in Orange County ar 9 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Fowler Street grade crossing in the city of Port Jervis.
The man, identified as Anthony R. Brooks, age 41, address unknown, was standing on the tracks when hit, MTA officials said.

Brooks was transported to Bon Secours Hospital and pronounced dead around 10 a.m., officials said.
The investigation continues by the MTA Police.

One hospital in the Hudson Valley is at the top of its class for keeping patients safe, according to a new report.
Westchester County's White Plains Hospital, located at 41 East Post Rd, has been assigned an "A" grade for patient safety in a new Fall 2022 report by the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog organization that advocates for safety in hospitals.

Missing Hudson Valley Woman Found Dead, Police Say
A missing Hudson Valley woman who police have spent hundreds of hours searching for has been found dead in a wooded area.
Orange County resident, Brittany Hendershot, age 19, of Port Jervis, has been missing since Thursday, June 23, but was officially reported missing to police on Tuesday, July 5 by her mother.
Following the missing person's report, the Port Jervis Police Department initiated an investigation which revealed that Brittany was last seen in the Town of Wallkill, said Chief William Worden, of the Port Jervis Police.

Alert Issued For Missing Hudson Valley 27-Year-Old Mother Of 3
Police in the Hudson Valley are asking the public for help locating a missing 27-year-old mother of three who hasn't been seen in over a month.
The Port Jervis Police Department is attempting to locate Heather Callas, of Port Jervis, who was reported missing Monday, Aug. 1, by her mother, who has not seen or heard from her daughter since Saturday, July 2.
Heather is believed to possibly be in the New York City area, said Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden.
