Large Black Bear Spotted Near North County Trailway In Millwood
Authorities are warning residents to take precautions after a large black bear was seen near a popular trailway in Northern Westchester. In an announcement on Monday, June 3, the New Castle Police Department said the bear was seen in the area of the North County Trailway in Millwood. New Bear Sighting Reported In Northern Westchester
A new black bear sighting has just been reported in the region. It comes from Northern Westchester where the bear was spotted in the Town of New Castle on the North County Trailway in the vicinity of Random Farms Drive, the New Castle Police Department said late Friday morning, April 29. "The (New York State) Environmental Conservation advises that bears will only be encouraged to leave the area unless the bear creates a public disturbance, acts aggressively towards a human or a pet, attempts to enter a home, or is injured and cannot move freely to escape," the department noted. …

New Bear Sightings Reported In New Castle
Some Northern Westchester residents had an unexpected visitor as one or more black bears made the rounds through their neighborhoods. The New Castle Police Department issued alerts for two separate bear sightings that happened in a 24-hour span. On Friday morning, Oct. 22, the department advised that a black bear was seen making the rounds in the area of Twin Ridges Road and Lake way in the town of New Castle.
