Police Shoot, Kill Dog During Violent Attack In New Canaan A member of the New Canaan Police Department was forced to fatally shoot a dog who posed a potential threat to local residents and would not stop attacking a neighbor's canine. A New Canaan resident made an emergency call to police shortly before noon on Saturday, June 16, where she “frantically stated that her dog was being violently attacked by an unknown dog” in her backyard.
