Some fast-acting first responders in the Hudson Valley came to the aid of a puppy who found itself in a perilous situation in frozen waters. In Orange County, at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, member of the Newburgh Fire Department responded to the Washington Street boat launch, where there was a report of a dog that found itself stuck out on the ice. Dog Rescued From Icy Pond In Pleasantville
Volunteer firefighters in the area are being hailed as heroes for rescuing a dog that fell through the ice of a Northern Westchester pond. At around 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 7, when Pleasantville firefighters were notified that a dog named Miller was stuck in Opperman's Pond and unable to climb out. A firefighter in Westchester made a special save after a family pet fell through thin ice into a pond and required a rescue. Jax, a Husky, found himself in a precarious position after chasing another smaller dog at the Siwanoy Golf Club in Bronxville and falling through thin ice on Monday, Dec. 21 about 30 feet from shore, prompting an emergency rescue. Massive Search Of Northern Westchester Reservoir Follows Report Of People, Dog In Trouble
Multiple reports of a group of people and then a dog on the ice who went missing on the Muscoot Reservoir in Northern Westchester set off a massive ice search that lasted more than four hours. The incident took place around 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 when New York State Police received two calls, one of a people out on the ice with a pink sled and another about a dog stuck on the ice at the reservoir between Route 35 and Cherry Street in Katonah, said New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks.
