Car Engulfed In Flames On Taconic Parkway In Northern Westchester
A vehicle fire prompted an early morning response on the Taconic State Parkway. The blaze happened on Saturday, Oct. 19 around 8:30 a.m. in Northern Westchester, when an SUV caught on fire on the southbound side in Hawthorne. Arriving fire crews soon found the vehicle consumed by flames and quickly hosed it down, putting the blaze out completely. The response took around an hour and sent plumes of smoke up into the air on the parkway, as seen in images of the fire released on the Hawthorne Fire Department's social media page. No injuries were reported.

Car Rolls Over On Hudson Valley Road, Causes Temporary Closure
One lane of a Hudson Valley road was temporarily closed after a car flipped, firefighters said. The crash happened in Putnam County on Friday, Oct. 18 just before 8 a.m., when a vehicle flipped at the intersection of Hill Street and Lakeside Road in Mahopac, according to the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department. Arriving first responders evaluated the driver. However, they declined any medical attention. One lane of traffic was closed for a short time while crews operated at the crash scene. The cause of the crash was not released.

Brush Fire Reaches Cortlandt Home, Kept At Bay By Resident With Hose
A Northern Westchester resident was able to keep a raging brush fire at bay with a hose until firefighters could arrive and save their home from the flames. Car Rolls Down Hill Into Building, Ditch In Mount Kisco
A building in Northern Westchester was damaged after a car rolled down a hill and crashed into it before ending up in a ditch. The crash happened on Friday, Oct. 4 in Mount Kisco, when an unattended vehicle rolled through a grass field, through a garden, and into the corner of a garage on Brookside Avenue, according to Independent Fire Co. #13 of the Mount Kisco Fire Department. After hitting the garage, the car then rolled down an embankment, firefighters said. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was later towed away and the area was cordoned off.

4 Rescued After Sailboat Overturns On Long Island Sound
Emergency responders from two counties teamed up to rescue several people after a sailboat overturned on the Long Island Sound. The incident happened around 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 Marine 7 of the Nassau County Police Department Marine Bureau Unit responded for reports of an overturned sailboat. With the assistance of the Westchester Police Department, all four occupants were removed from the water and the sail boat was towed to shore by Town of North Hempstead Bay Constable.
