Brand-New Mobile ID Launches In NY, Promises 'Convenience, Security'
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that New Yorkers can now have a digital version of their state-issued driver's license or identification right on their smartphones. Hochul and the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles announced on Tuesday, June 11 that the new program, New York Mobile ID, was now available to all New Yorkers. Available to anyone with a smartphone, New York Mobile ID (or MiD) is a highly secure digital version of a state-issued driver's license, learner’s permit, or non-driver identification card that can be used at nearly 30 TSA security checkpoints across the country. …

NY Easing Licensing Process For School Bus Drivers To Address 'Critical Shortage'
Leaders in New York are making it easier for people to become school bus drivers in an attempt to tackle a growing national shortage. The Department of Motor Vehicles has implemented a federal waiver allowing school bus driver applicants to skip the engine compartment component – known as the “under the hood” part – of the commercial driver license road test. Angelica Nappi’s death won’t be in vain. The Long Island 14-year-old – who grew up in Holbrook and died at the hands of a reckless driver in February 2008 – was the inspiration behind “Angelica’s Law,” signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul this week. Thousands of undocumented immigrants living in New York will soon be able to obtain a valid driver’s license now that a new law has taken effect. 13 Westchester Businesses Charged In Underage Drinking Sting
Thirty-nine area restaurants and stores were cited for selling alcohol to undercover minors during stings in the area. The New York State Liquor Authority used decoys to target restaurants and stores statewide as part of an effort to look for fake IDs and local locations that will sell alcohol to minors. Grocery stores, restaurants and liquor stores were all targeted during the sting operation. In total, decoys were sent to 851 businesses across 46 counties last month, with 186 in total reportedly selling to minors. Man Makes Threats, Menaces Victims At DMV In Hudson Valley, Police Say
Nobody enjoys a trip to the DMV, but a 28-year-old area man took things to a whole new level. New York State Police troopers were dispatched to the Department of Motor Vehicles on Marshall Road in Wappingers Falls at approximately 9:10 a.m. on Monday, June 18, where there was a report of a man with a gun making threats in the building.
