Vehicle Rollover Snaps Pole, Shuts Down Busy Road In New Castle A vehicle rollover in Northern Westchester damaged a telephone pole and caused a temporary closure on a busy road. The incident happened on Saturday, March 9 just before 2 p.m., when a car rolled over on Route 133 in New Castle and hit a pole, snapping it in half, according to the Millwood Fire Department.  Arriving emergency responders and police soon shut down the road while members of the Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps evaluated the driver.  Crews responded to the scene for around an hour and a half.

Danielle Barry, Accomplished Musician From Chappaqua, Dies At 24 A Northern Westchester County woman, known as an accomplished musician with a love of helping others, has died at the age of 24. According to her obituary, Danielle Barry, of Chappaqua, died on Sunday, Oct. 31, from ovarian cancer. Barry was a co-captain of the junior varsity softball team during her time as a student at Horace Greeley High School, her obituary reads. She also graduated from Binghamton University in 2019, earning a bachelor of science degree in integrative neuroscience. Fast-Moving Fire Rips Through Building In Chappaqua A fast-moving fire that heavily damaged a building is under investigation in Northern Westchester. The fire was discovered around 8:13 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, when the Chappaqua Fire Department was called to the area behind their firehouse for a reported garage fire, the department said. Man Charged With DWI Following Head-On Crash That Causes Saw Mill Parkway Closure A 54-year-old man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a head-on collision that closed the Saw Mill River Parkway in Northern Westchester. The incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 when a GMC Envoy traveling southbound on the Saw Mill in the vicinity of Route 120 in New Castle struck a guard rail, went airborne and entered the northbound lanes of travel, Westchester County Police said. An explosion that has caused extensive damage to a home in Northern Westchester led to the hourslong closure of a stretch of Route 100 (Saw Mill River Road). The closure, following the incident that happened around 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, was between the north end of Hidden Hollow Lane to the south end of Hidden Hollow Lane.
