Koster Breaks Record in Chappaqua Swim Team Win

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- Christopher Koster did not just break a record, he shattered it Wednesday. Koster won the 18-and-under boys’ 100 backstroke, eclipsing the old team standard by nearly two seconds in Chappaqua Swim Team’s victory over Mount Kisco Memorial in a Northern Westchester Swim Conference Division 1 meet.

Koster clocked in at one minute 1.86 seconds, bettering the 23-year-old record of 1:03.52, set in 1988 by Drew Haller. Chappaqua had four triple winners -- Kate Posner (eight-and-under girls) backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, Wyatt Yates (eight-and-under boys) back, breaststroke and fly, Zoe Kerrich (18-and-under girls)  breaststroke; (14-and-under girls) fly and freestyle and Katie Duncalf (18-and-under girls) back, fly and free. Koster (18-and-under) diving, along with Stephen Pearce (10-and-under boys) back and breaststroke and Ellis Ritchie (10-and-under boys) fly and free, were dual winners. Mount Kisco had three triple winners -- Maggie Kleinsmith (10-and-under girls) breaststroke, back and free, Damon May (12-and-under boys) breaststroke, fly and free and Robbie Purvis (14-and-under boys) back, fly and free.
