TheAlcoholTalk.com is a website dedicated to providing sound parenting advice about underage drinking, based on input from psychologists, educators and school advisers, as well as teens themselves
To assemble a panel of smart, savvy and expressive teens, TheAlcoholTalk.com is putting out the word to parents and their kids through social media. They’re looking for a multi-month commitment and will pay the teens to answer periodic questionnaires ($25 per) and even write blogs ($50 per) for its website. Parents will retain control over what their children submit, while teens have a chance to earn some pocket money and an extracurricular credit for college applications.
The site is sponsored in the public interest by Pernod Ricard USA, a leading spirits and wine marketer.
Powell-Lunder and her colleagues decided that working with a changing panel of teens in real-time will help keep the campaign fresh and the insights timely and uniquely adolescent-based.
“If parents really engage their teens on the subject, I think they will be surprised by their teens’ perspectives on this important issue,” said Powell-Lunder, who is an expert at talking to teens and parents.
"I’m looking forward to hearing from teens and their parents in the coming weeks and finding the right combination of kids for the panel,” she said. “Their insights will be of great value to the campaign and the experience will be important for the teens as well. I’m sure it will be eye-opening for all involved.”
