Horace Greeley High School Class of 2012 Graduates

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – The high school career of more than 300 seniors came to an end Sunday evening as Horace Greeley High School's class of 2012 walked the stage to receive its diplomas.

The event was also a finale of sorts for Principal Andrew Selesnick and Assistant Principal Mark Bayer, who will both be moving on. Selesnick will move into an assistant superintendent position while Bayer was hired as the principal of Somers High School.

Selesnick and Bayer were joined by Superintendent Lyn McKay and board of education President Alyson Kiesel in sharing their words of wisdom with the graduating seniors.

"I urge all of you, our seniors for whom I want only the best, only the happiest and most rewarding of lives, to know that simple things, simple acts like being a friend, being kind and compassionate to all, being patient, and being humble, will get you there," Selesnick said.

Speaking on behalf of the class of 2012 was valedictorian Kamil Sadik, salutatorian Davis Wertheimer, class president Phylicia Ashley and student council president David Turer.

Much of the speeches focused on finding success after high school and the various paths the students will take in getting there.

"If you want to be successful, do things that make the world a better place," said Wertheimer. "Don't make success something it's not. Just keep doing what you're doing."
