Chappaqua Superintendent Names Next Roaring Brook Principal

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – Roaring Brook Elementary School Assistant Principal Amy Fishkin has been tabbed by Chappaqua Central School District Superintendent Lyn McKay as the school's next principal.

"I am pleased to share that on May 1 at our Board of Education meeting, I will be recommending the appointment of Amy Fishkin as the next principal of Roaring Brook Elementary School," McKay said. "She comes to us as the result of a thorough and rigorous search, and I am grateful to the many people who contributed to this process."

After failing to find a candidate through the initial round of applications, the search was reopened in February. If the board accepts McKay's recommendation on Tuesday, Fishkin will assume her new position on July 1.

"I want to thank again the teachers, staff, parents, and administrators who have made their voices heard during this process. I am anticipating that the Board of Education will approve my recommendation," McKay said.

Fiskin will be taking over for Eric Byrne, who was promoted to assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction before the 2011-12 school year.

Fishkin graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and in 1998 received a Master of Science Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education.

"I am excited about all that Amy will bring to Roaring Brook in her new role," McKay said. "As the Assistant Principal for the past five years, Amy has come to know the unique aspects of the Roaring Brook community. Her fifteen years of teaching and administrative experience at the elementary level have prepared Amy to be most successful in her new position."
