The emails show an attempt by Clinton aides to emphasize the then-Secretary of State's “stewardship” and “leadership” of American policy on Libya as much as a year before the Sept. 11, 2012, attack that killed four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, The Wall Street Journal reported on its Washington Wire blog.
Other emails highlighted the increased threat from Islamic militants and rival militias, The Wall Street Journal reported.
