CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- Hillary and Bill Clinton were greeted with a roar from supporters on Tuesday morning when they entered the auditorium of Douglas G. Grafflin Elementary School in Chappaqua to cast their presidential votes.

Throngs of people inside, huddling by the Clintons, took out their phones to snap images.

The morning marked a hometown culmination of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, which was launched in the spring of 2015.

Clinton, who is the Democratic nominee, has a chance on Tuesday night of being elected as America's first female president in the nation's 240-year history.

A former first lady, senator and secretary of state, Clinton has lived with Chappaqua with Bill Clinton, who was president from 1993 to 2001, since 1999.

Scores more of enthusiastic backers greeted the Clintons when they left the school; chants and signs were in abundance. Video of supporters chanting can be viewed here.

The Clintons took time to meet with their supporters before heading out. The campaign is scheduled to have an election night rally at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Clinton is facing off against celebrity businessman and Bedford estate owner Donald Trump, who is the Republican nominee. Polls favor Clinton to win the election, but news reports show that the last few days of campaigning have been fiercely fought between the major-party candidates as the numbers have tightened.

Trump's election night rally is scheduled nearby Clinton's -- at the New York Hilton Midtown.

Trump also owns Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor. The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
