Although the public hearing is scheduled to continue at Tuesday's meeting, Conifer has again requested an adjournment. This means the public hearing will be opened for the sole purpose of setting a continuation date of the public hearing.
This request for adjournment is Conifer’s second consecutive attempt to end the public hearing segment, after postponing its last scheduled Town Board meeting appearance Feb. 12.
On Feb. 28, the New Castle Town Board passed a “Sense of the Board” resolution on the controversial affordable housing proposal.
In the 12-page resolution, the board listed concerns about Conifer’s five-story, 36-unit building called Chappaqua Station for 54 Hunts Place.
A special permit from the Town Board would be needed for the proposal to go forward. The recent resolution may make obtaining such a permit that much more difficult for Conifer.
