The incident occurred around midnight when the wrong-way driver, a woman who was headed south on the northbound side, hit another vehicle, according to Westchester County Police Inspector Thomas Gleason.
The collision happened south of Route 120.
The crash occurred at 12:03 a.m., with the northbound lane not reopening until 7:40 a.m., Gleason said.
The woman has been identified by police as Tess Keegan, a 22-year-old Waccabuc resident.
Keegan and the driver of the other car, a male, were each taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, according to Keegan.
The wrong-way driver had "minor injuries," while the other driver had "much more serious injuries," Gleason said.
Keegan was arrested charged with several counts, according to Gleason. They include second-degree vehicular assault, which is a felony; driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; reckless driving, which is also a misdemeanor; and several vehicle and traffic infractions.
Keegan has an appearance date in New Castle's local court in Chappaqua on Aug. 27, Gleason added.
