Romney Donations Triple Obama in Chappaqua

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – More of Chappaqua's donation dollars have gone to presidential hopeful Republican Mitt Romney than any other candidate.

Of the $75,324 donated by 68 Chappaqua residents, $51,700 was donated to Romney since January 2011, more than the $17,874 President Barack Obama earned from Chappaqua donations, according to the website OpenSource.org.

"That Mitt Romney is outraising President Obama is not surprising at all," said New Castle Republican Town Committee Chairman Jack Rappart. He said the primary focus of the upcoming election is on economics, and Romney's pro-business stance is most in line with local Republicans.

Rounding out donations from Chappaqua residents are Rick Perry with $2,500; Ron Paul with $1,000; Jon Huntsman with $1,000; Newt Gingrich with $500; Tim Pawlenty with $500 and Michele Bachmann with $250.

Despite receiving no support in Chappaqua, presidential hopeful Rick Santorum received a $2,500 donation across town in Millwood. It is one of only three donations from the hamlet, with $500 going to Romney and $212 going to Obama.
