Chelsea Clinton Holds Book Signing At Chappaqua Library

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton stopped by the Chappaqua Library on Wednesday evening to sign copies of her new book, "It's Your World."

Throngs of visitors lined up for their turns to meet the author, who did the signing at a space near the library's teen section.

Chelsea Clinton, whose parents are two of Chappaqua's most famous residents, is the third member of her family to partner with the library for a book signing. Her father, former President Bill Clinton made an appearance in 2011, Daily Voice reported at the time, while her mother, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited in June 2014.

The Village Bookstore, which is located in Pleasantiville and has worked with the Clintons before, provided copies for the event.

Chelsea Clinton's visit came as Hillary Clinton is in the midst of her 2016 presidential campaign, a topic that was not the focus of the event.

The former first daughter's book signing provided for a markedly different experience from that of Hillary Clinton's. It lacked the groups of protestors and boosters who appeared previously. The library's auditorium, which was packed for Hillary Clinton's book signing, was only used as a pass-through to the building's side exit. Also missing was national media coverage, which was noticeable at last year's signing; the event was covered by several local outlets.

Amanda Cronin, a Chappaqua resident and junior at Horace Greeley High School, was among the first to get her book signed.

“You know, I was looking forward to this so much,” she said.

Cronin, who recently interviewed Chelsea Clinton for an article in the school newspaper, was glad to have the signed book, saying, “I’m going to treasure this forever and maybe show my kids one day.”

There was no shortage of visitors from across the area who were supportive of the visiting author.

“I think she’s very inspiring,” said Ossining's Emily Johl.

Johl's friend, fellow Ossining resident Eliza Wixted, said that Chelsea Clinton is inspiring for the world.

Priscilla Keresey, a Putnam Valley resident, attended because she said that she likes to support women, especially women who appear to have it easy due to having famous parents but go out of their way to be of service to others.
