CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. Horace Greeley High alum Chris Williams currently lives in Los Angeles, but the "Dodgeball" actor has never truly left his hometown of New Castle behind. Williams was born in Tarrytown and raised in Millwood at his Route 100 home with his sister, Vanessa Williams.
Williams graduated from Greeley after years of appearing in school plays, and earned a bachelors degree in psychology from Georgetown University.
Williams returned last week to visit Vanessa and his mother, Helen, at their Chappaqua homes. The Chappaqua Daily Voice caught up with Williams to ask him his five favorite things about his hometown.
Rockys Deli
Literally, I cannot leave Millwood without going to Rockys. Thats like the number one thing. I cannot function if I do not have a wedge. I usually get a turkey wedge and a roast beef wedge, and some fried clams. I mean, I have to have it. Rockys is one of the greatest establishments.
Food, food, and more food
I always go to Marios Pizza here in Chappaqua. We just went to a restaurant that used to be called Lickety Split and now its called King Street [Restaurant and Bar]. It was good. Theres been like eight incarnations of that restaurant since Ive been here. I also go to Carvel in Pleasantville, the Mount Kisco Diner and Friendlys in Mount Kisco.
Friends
I have tons of friends who are still here. Of course, they all have families and kids now. A lot of my friends have stayed in Millwood or Chappaqua or Croton. So I go to see them.
Memories
There used to be an old drug store, a five and dime drug store. It was called Elmers. Elmer was this bald guy with his little mustache. They used to have these egg creams. I used to get all my candies there, all my comic books there. And it was my safe haven when I had some money."
North County Trailway
When I was training for a marathon, I would take the run down to the trestle. When I was growing up, there was just a dirt road. Now its all nice and paved. Its beautiful.
