CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – Friday is her last day as secretary of state and Chappaqua resident Hillary Clinton recently told ABC’s Cynthia McFadden she is looking forward to coming home.

It seems the feeling is mutual.

“It’s always good to have the Clintons around town, they’re always nice people,” said George Haleztky, manager of Lange’s Little Store Deli in Chappaqua. “They’re welcomed as customers here anytime — day or night.”

Eve Spence, owner of Chappaqua toy store Auntie Penny, is also excited to have the former first lasy and U.S. senator as part of the community again.

“It will be great to have her home, I haven’t seen her around in a while,” she said. “I’ll never get over the excitement of seeing Bill or Hillary in town.”

While former President Bill Clinton, paid Auntie Penny a visit on Christmas Eve, Spence said she is still waiting to see Hillary Clinton as a shopper.

“I know she shops local, so I’m hoping next time Bill stops by, he brings her with him,” she said.

Spence said President Clinton’s surprise appearance in last month’s Golden Globes put how special having the Clintons as neighbors into perspective.

“When Bill made an appearance at last month’s Golden Globes, and you could see celebrities be just as star struck as any Chappaqua resident would be, I started to get chills,” said Spence. “And then to have Amy Poehler refer to him as “Hillary’s husband” gives you an idea of how special it is to have both of them as part of our community.”

While most Chappaqua residents seem excited to have Hillary Clinton around, some hope her stay is cut short for a possible return to Washington, D.C. in 2016. Speculation is that she will run for president that year.

“I am certainly looking forward to having her around town,” said Aurora beauty shop owner Dawn Greenberg. “But I also hope she gets back into the political scene soon. I’m a big fan.”
