Sunday Evening Marks Beginning Of Hanukah For Area Worshippers

BEDFORD CORNERS, N.Y. -- Those of the Jewish faith in the Northern Westchester community will welcome the start of Hanukah at sundown on Dec. 6.

Often called the festival of light, Hanukah commemorates the rededication of the Temple in the 2nd century BCE and the burning of the candelabra in the Temple for 8 days and nights. To remember this event, Jews light Hanukah candles each of the eight nights of the holiday.
