The former First Lady, secretary of state and U.S. Senator, herself a Chappaqua resident, signed copies of her new memoir, “Hard Choices,” and repeatedly shook hands with the long line of attendees.
The event was co-sponsored by The Village Bookstore, a shop in Pleasantville, and Simon & Schuster, which is the publisher of Clinton's book.
Excited guests for the book signing came from both near and far. Several visitors wore stickers from the organization Ready for Hillary, which seeks to support her should she run for president.
“It was cool,” said Lilly Brown, one of several kids to get a book copy signed.
Her brother, Eli Brown, was “glad” to meet Clinton. The two came to the library with their father, Adam Brown.
“It was great,” said Mount Kisco resident Karen Schleimer, who was among those to meet Clinton. A member of Mount Kisco's Village Board of Trustees, Schleimer also mentioned that she discussed local politics with Clinton.
Chappaqua resident Jin Sheng attended with her kids, Alexander Du and Katie Du. All three of them had signed copies of Clinton's book.
Alexander Du noted that he wanted her signature because she is famous. He also added, “and I hope she becomes the first female president.”
Replying, Katie Du was “really happy.”
Towards the end of her appearance, Clinton posed for photos with staff from the Chappaqua Library and staff from The Village Bookstore.
