Sherry Blockinger, owner and pastry chef of Chappaqua's Sherry b dessert studio, is passionate about more than just baking.

In an effort to broaden awareness for the importance of wildlife conservation, the dessert studio will host Stand For Wolves, a free, educational family event Sunday, Jan. 31 from 2-4 p.m. for the Westchester community and beyond to raise awareness and funds for the Wolf Conservation Center, which is located in South Salem.

Guests will learn about the critically endangered Mexican Gray Wolf and Red Wolf, two of the rarest mammals in North America that were at one time both extinct in the wild, and the efforts to preserve and recover these essential species. Ambassador Wolf Atka, an Arctic Gray Wolf that has traveled to Capitol Hill to promote the survival of his species, will make a special appearance at the end of the event.

Joining Blockinger will be Maggie Howell, executive director of the Conservation Center, as well as an eighth-grade student from John Jay Middle School who will share her efforts to promote wolf conservation.

Blockinger’s signature dessert collection will be available for purchase, including the limited-edition wolf pack collection, featuring Vanilla Wolf Print cookies finished with white chocolate and sparkling sugar ($3 each or $5 for two). All the profits from the cookies for conservation and the event will be donated to the center to support its work in ecosystem education, species preservation and environmental advocacy.

Sherry b. dessert studio is at 65 King St. in Chappaqua.
