Chappaqua Ice Cream Shop Targets Fall Opening

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. - Ice cream shop owner Lori Ceisler is looking to fast-track a proposal that would expand her Armonk-based Hall of Scoops to downtown Chappaqua by this fall.

"Chappaqua reminds us very much of Armonk; it’s a great community," Ceisler said. "It just seemed like a great opportunity."

Ceisler met Tuesday with the New Castle Planning Board and hopes to receive site plan approval for the 14 South Greeley Ave. shop during its next meeting with the board in September. Architect David Graham said renovation work would then be carried out immediately. The Chappaqua shop will also be called Hall of Scoops.

"They’re very quick," Graham said. "They’ve done this before."

The 1,700-square-foot storefront is more than double the size of its sister-store in Armonk and will serve candy, ice cream and frozen yogurt. The ice cream will be supplied by Longford’s Ice Cream in Rye.

"We don’t really like to compare ourselves to anybody else out there. We’re kind of our own entity unto itself," Ceisler said. "Obviously there are other fro-yo places and other ice cream places and other candy places. I don’t think there are many that balance all three under the same roof."

Ceisler called Hall of Scoops "my creation, my baby," but said it is very much a family-run business. Her husband Billy Ceisler and brother-in-law Brad Ceisler, a Chappaqua resident, will also help with the day-to-day operations.

"We’ve been in business there for over a year and it’s been rave reviews," Ceisler said. "We’re excited to bring the same thing here to Chappaqua."
