Worker Buried Alive: Contractor Admits 'Recklessness' In Westchester Trench Death, DA Says A Connecticut contractor has pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment following the death of a worker who was buried alive at a Westchester construction site in 2021, officials announced.  Fairfield County resident Michael Conway, age 60, of Bethel, admitted to disregarding federal safety regulations that could have prevented the fatal collapse, Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace said on Friday, Feb. 7.  On May 4, 2021, 46-year-old Jose Vega was working inside a nine-foot-deep trench when it suddenly collapsed, completely burying him. Truck Goes Up In Flames On Busy Main Road In Westchester: Video Firefighters have released details about a truck fire that filled a busy main route in Westchester with smoke. The incident happened on Wednesday, Jan. 24, when a truck caught on fire on Boston Post Road (Route 1) at Hommocks Road in Mamaroneck, according to the town's fire department.  Luckily, the blaze was quickly put out thanks to the help of a mutual aid engine from the Village of Mamaroneck Fire Department.  Firefighters later released a video of the fire on social media. One Person Found Dead After House Fire Breaks Out In Westchester Updated story: Victim Of Fatal Westchester House Fire Was A Popular Teacher, Former HS Athlete One person was killed during a house fire in Westchester. The blaze broke out at around noon, Sunday, Nov. 7 in the basement at 518 Walnut St., in the Village of Mamaroneck.
