A mayor in one of Westchester’s largest cities is calling for better performance from Montefiore after it was made public that it had the lowest vaccination rate in the state of New York. This week, New York Gov. Woman, 92, Dies In Westchester House Fire
A 92-year-old woman died and several firefighters were hospitalized with injuries in a Westchester house fire overnight. The Mount Vernon blaze broke out just before 5 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8 at a home on East Prospect Avenue where firefighters battled 30-degree temperatures and flame. Crews battled the elements to knock down the flame, while the Office of Emergency Management established a warming station nearby. A fire that broke out in the kitchen of a McDonald’s in Westchester was knocked down before it could spread through an entire city block. Crews from the Mount Vernon Fire Department responded at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12 to McDonald’s on Gramatan Avenue, where there were multiple reports of smoke spreading to adjacent buildings. Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas is crying foul, claiming that the Democratic primary was rigged, prompting him to file a lawsuit against the Board of Elections and his challengers.
