Schorr Announces State Senate Run
Dan Schorr is the latest candidate to run for County Executive George Latimer's old state senate seat. Schorr, a White Plains resident, announced Thursday he is seeking the Republican nomination to represent the 37th District. The seat became vacant when Latimer was elected county executive. Latimer's Vacant Senate Seat: What's Next?
There is one less state senator in New York. With George Latimer (D-Rye) being sworn in as Westchester County Executive, he resigned his senate seat, which represents the 37th district. Gov. Andrew Cuomo must now set a date for a special election. Four Democrats have announced their candidacy: Assemblywoman Shelley Mayer, West Harrison resident Mark Jaffe, teacher Kat Brezler and Bedford Supervisor Chris Burdick.
