Hours-Long Standoff Ends In Suicide In Area
A tense hours-long standoff ended when an area resident with a rifle killed himself. Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr. said the incident unfolded around 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 23, when the town of Kent Ambulance along with the EmStar medics were dispatched to Pudding Street in the Town of Putnam Valley for a man with chest pain. The medic unit was first on scene and was confronted by a man with a shotgun. A man is dead after taking his own life following a police-involved incident in the area. At about 10:25 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, in Putnam County, the town of Kent Ambulance along with the EmStar medic were dispatched to Pudding Street in the Town of Putnam Valley for a male with chest pain, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said. Road Closures Announced During Taconic Parkway Pudding Street Overpass Project
A $28.9 million project for a new bridge over the Taconic State Parkway at the Pudding Street intersection in Putnam Valley has started. A new bridge has been pushed by state and local officials at the dangerous intersection dating back more than a decade. The intersection is the only at-grade crossing on the busy highway in Putnam County. As part of the project, new ramps will also be installed in the area to realign with the Taconic State Parkway, making the area safer for pedestrians, commuters, school buses, and emergency service vehicles.
