About half a million people are expected to visit the 174th Dutchess County Fair, which runs from Tuesday, Aug. 20 through Sunday, Aug. 25. The tradition of the Dutchess County Fair, the second largest county fair in New York State, dates back to the 1840s and celebrates the county’s agricultural heritage. The fair, which is set on more than 162 acres of meticulously manicured gardens and grass on Route 9 in Rhinebeck, is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. A Fortune 500 company has pledged more than $700 million to expand its manufacturing operations in the Hudson Valley. A spokesman for Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, who is challenging Democrat Andrew Cuomo for governor on Nov. 6, said the campaign expects to benefit from the national Republican Governors Association record fundraising this election cycle. The RGA announced $42.6 million raised in the third quarter of 2018, bringing its fundraising total for the 2017-2018 cycle to a new record-setting $156 million.
