Mayer Wins Westchester State Senate Seat In Special Election Democratic Assembly Member Shelley Mayer defeated Republican Jillian Killian in a special election Tuesday for the state senate seat in the 37th district vacated by George Latimer, who was elected Westchester County Executive.  Mayer led by 16 points with 90 percent of the precincts reported late Tuesday night. With George Latimer (D-Rye) being sworn in as Westchester County Executive, he resigned his senate seat, which represents the 37th district. Gov. Andrew Cuomo must now set a date for a special election.
