Shake Shack, Chick-fil-A Among New Eateries Coming To NY Thruway Service Areas
Some popular, prominent restaurants are coming to New York State Thruway rest stops as part of a multi-million project to redevelop more than two dozen service stations. Beginning on Thursday, July 29, construction will begin on a $450 million project to develop 27 service areas on the Thruway, officials announced this week. As of July 29, 10 services areas will be temporarily closed to begin the first phase of the project, though fuel service will remain available at all locations during construction. A truck driver destroyed his tractor-trailer after using his personal GPS and finding his way onto the Bronx River Parkway in Westchester, where he struck a low-hanging bridge, tearing his truck bed apart. Many New Yorkers are miffed at Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont’s proposal to install toll gantries on I-684, which would force some residents to have to pay a toll without traveling to or from the state. More People Are Leaving NYC Than Any Other US City, New Report Says
The mass exodus of New Yorkers leaving New York City has hit a record pace. According to new reports, as many as 277 people are leaving New York City each day, leading all U.S. metro areas, and more than double the number recorded last year. Los Angeles and Chicago were second and third on the list, with 201 and 161 residents reportedly leaving each day. The data came from the 2018 Ceneus data on migration in the largest 100 cities in the country. Between July 2017 and July 2018, New York lost 180,306 people and gained 131,746 new residents.
