Bear, Cub Found Dead On Area Parkway An adult bear and her cub that were apparently struck by a vehicle on the Taconic Parkway in Putnam Valley will be removed from the roadway by the Department of Transportation.The pair, first noticed by Daily Voice reader John Askildsen of Millbrook, has been on the southbound side of the highway, immediately south of the entrance at Peekskill Hollow Road, since Monday.  "When I first noticed them down an embankment I thought maybe it was a piece of carpet or something," he said.
