Man Critical After Lighting Himself On Fire Near Hudson River, Police Say
A man is in critical condition after pouring gasoline all over himself and setting himself on fire at an area park overlooking the Hudson River.
The incident took place around 2:20 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 2, in Dutchess County at Waryas Park in the City of Poughkeepsie, said Det. Lt. Matt Clark, of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department.
According to Clark, city 911 received multiple calls reporting a man set himself on fire near the shore at the park.
Responding officers found the victim, a 31-year-old Wappinger Falls man, with severe burns to his head, back, and arms, Clark said.

Man Dies After Jumping From Bridge In Area
A local man was killed after he jumped from an area bridge.
The incident took place around 6:05 p.m., Saturday, April 24 in Dutchess County when 37-year-old Brendan J. Paredes, of Wappinger, jumped from the bridge on the Walkway Over the Hudson in the City of Poughkeepsie, said New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks.
State Police, New York State Park Police, City of Poughkeepsie Police Department, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, and the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department all responded to the bridge in an attempt to rescue Paredes, Hicks said.

Seen Him? Alert Issued For Missing Hudson Valley Man
Police are asking the public for help in locating an area man who hasn't been seen or heard from since Monday.
Patrick Vidal, 54, was reported missing on Tuesday after he did not report to work and was unable to be located by family and friends, said City of Poughkeepsie Police.
Vidal, who may be suicidal, is described as being a black male, 5-foot-8, 180 pounds, and was last seen Monday at 4 p.m. when he left work, police added.
He is believed to be driving a black 2003 Ford Explorer with New York license plate GMA-2793.
