Woman Convicted In Bench Trial After Deaths Of Nine Horses At Area Farm A 52-year-old woman was found guilty Tuesday of 10 felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals in connection with the deaths of nine horses on a farm in the area. Jeanne Ryan of Goshen was also found guilty of the mistreatment of another horse, which survived, as well as for overdriving, torturing, injuring, and underfeeding the horses.  She was remanded to the Orange County Jail until her sentencing on Sept. 6, said the Orange County District Attorney's Office. Investigation Reveals Official Horse Death Count In Hudson Valley Barn Fire The official death count in the early Saturday morning fire that turned deadly at a horse barn in Orange County has been disclosed. The remains of 24 horses were found following the blaze, according to an investigation by Orange County fire officials.  Orange County Deputy Fire Commissioner Vini Tankasali said all the horses housed in the barn at the Mount Hope Training Center were killed in the blaze. New NY Law Looks To Help Reunite Lost Pets With Owners Lost pets may soon be a thing of the past in New York. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a bill into law this week that will require found pets to be checked for microchips within 24 hours of being picked up on local streets. The law will require animal shelters and rescue groups that take in lost animals to check if a found pet has a chip or other identifying information that may help them reunite with their family.
