BRONXVILLE, N.Y. There are two games remaining in the high school football regular season and the defending Class C state champion Bronxville football team has two goals; win out and stay healthy beginning with Saturdays 1:30 p.m. kickoff at upstate Pawling.
The unbeaten Broncos (5-0) have won 23 consecutive Section 1 (area) games over two years and 17 overall since losing in the 2010 state playoffs.
Pawling (2-3) is coming off a 38-14 loss to Dobbs Ferry, the only team to give the Broncos any trouble this season. Bronxville earned a 15-14 comeback victory over the Eagles on opening day five weeks ago and the two will likely meet again when the Section 1 playoffs begin later this month.
The Conway Express, Bronxvilles backfield tandem of lead rusher Christian Conway and lead blocker Jackson Conway, has not slowed a bit. Christian rushed for 181 yards and three touchdowns in last Sundays 27-14 victory over a tough Albertus Magnus team. Quarterback Max Boyd completed 6 of 10 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown to his prime receiver Matt Tormey.
Pawlings showing against Dobbs Ferry is a predictor that Bronxville will be able to move the ball and score points. Look for Boyd to thrown the ball more each week as the playoffs approach and look for the Conway Express to roll over another opponent, and with the playoffs looming, coach Jeff Napolitano will be hoping for a healthy outcome.
