Concordia Women Grab First Soccer Victory

OXFORD, PA. – Oumou Toure scored three goals and six different Concordia players scored in the second half Saturday as the visiting Clippers women defeated Lincoln 8-2 for their first win of the season.

Toure’s hat trick led the offense and Francesca Lombardo (Eastchester), Nicole Brochero (White Plains), Bridgitte McCalla, Iyesha Ollivierre and Susan Valencia (New Rochelle) each scored a goal for the Clippers (1-1, 0-0 CACC league), who continue its road trip at at Washington Adventist today at 2 p.m. then play the home opener on Wednesday.

Lincoln scored the lone goal in the first half at the 10 minute mark. Kelly Thibeau took a strong shot from roughly 20 yards away from the goal that beat Clippers’ goalkeeper Jessica Nana. In the second half, Concordia put on scoring blitz, scoring eight times.

Toure started the scoring for the Clippers just two minutes into the second half, finding the back of the net two more times at the 70- and 80-minute marks. Nanan recorded two saves in her first win of the season in goal for the Clippers, who outshot Lincoln 27-5 and held a 5-0 edge in corner kicks. Do you follow Concordia soccer? Tell us on Facebook.
