Concordia Baseball Comeback Tops Dominican

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers baseball team used a five-run scoring outburst in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday to steal a 7-6 victory from Visiting Dominican College.

Concordia won its first Central Atlantic Athletic conference victory and upped its record to 3-19 as they attempt to build off a tough start this spring.

Tied 6-6 in the bottom of the ninth after scoring four runs, Raul Gonzalez placed a single along the first base line with the bases loaded to complete the comeback. Gonzalez and teammate Chris Rutigliano each drove in two runs for the Clippers. Rutigliano had three hits in the game.

A single by Yonatan Rodriguez of Tarrytown got the ninth-inning rally started with a hit and Jason Berrios, David Velazquez and Luis Gonzalez each contributed to the comeback.

Ted Robertson, who came into the game to relieve starter Felix Lopez, got the final two outs in the top of the ninth inning and earned the victory.

Concordia (3-19, 1-4 CACC) hosts Philadelphia U. for a CACC doubleheader Sunday beginning at noon.
