Bronxville Girls Win Sectional Track Title

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Bronxville girls’ indoor track team continued its domination of Class C Sunday, winning its 16th consecutive and 26th overall winter season Indoor Track & Field Championship at the 168th Armory.

“Special congratulations to Lucy Kohlhoff for two individual wins and the anchor on a winning relay, a great 600-meter win for Meredith Rizzo and equally great 1,500 win by Courtney Campbell,” Broncos coach Jim Mitchell said. “We also had very strong wins by Amelia (Phillips), Emilie (Hoffer), and Ana (Timoney), and two of the three relays. Twenty girls contributed points to the victory.”

The Broncos girls compiled 157 points to take the Class C team title, outrunning Pawling (89 points) and Dover (50), the second- and third-place finishers.

Kohlhoff won the 55-meter dash in a time of 7.6 seconds, followed closely by Sophie Kohlhoff (8.0) and ran to a second individual Section 1 Class C title in the 300 in 43.2 seconds. Sophie Kohlhoff, Caroline DePaul, Jamie Carroll and anchor Lucy Kohlhoff took the 4x200 relay in 1.52.1

Rizzo starred in the 600-meter run, taking first in a time 1:35.6, a personal best, and Phillips won the 1,000-meters in 2:30.3 to take Section 1 titles.

Timoney raced to victory in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.8 seconds and Caroline Muir won the grueling 1,500-meter race walk in 8:08.7.

Campbell’s 1,500-meter performance was a personal best 4:45.4 and Hoffer ran the 3,000 in 10:50.5 for the Section 1 title.

The 4x800 relay team of Grace Vetromile, Jordan Sears, Morgan Nobles and Hilary Rizzo showed its dominance by taking the title in a time of 10:16.6 with Rizzo recording a personal best finishing anchor leg time of 2:22.1.
