Bronxville Girls’ Cross Country Sweeps Coaches Invitation

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - Kaitlin Ryan led the varsity to a third-place finish Saturday as the Bronxville High School girls' cross country team won the varsity, junior varsity and freshman races at the annual Coaches Invitation at upstate Bowdoin State Park.

Ryan ran the 5,000-meter course in a time of 19:54 followed closely by teammates Courtney Campbell in sixth and Emilie Hoffer in seventh as the Broncos girls led the team scoring with 35 points. Monroe-Woodbury ran second with 70 points.

"A great job by all the girls with a clean sweep of the three races," Bronxville coach Jim Mitchell said. "It was a great race by the varsity to have five runners run within 59 seconds of each other to defeat a very strong Monroe Woodbury team. I am also very impressed by the junior varsity and freshmen. The future looks promising."

Veronica Walsh led the Broncos' junior varsity with an overall first-place finish in a personal course-record time of 21:35 with teammates Amelia Phillips taking third (22:05) and Nicola Phillips (22:48) running in the fifth spot. Bronxville earned 34 points to 44 for second place Monroe-Woodbury.

Meagan Scotti led the freshmen girls over their shorter 1.5-mile course with a top finish in a time of 11:01. Teammates Katherine Marriman (11:14) and Catherine Cain (11:22) finished in second and third overall as the Broncos girls beat second-place Somers 21-53.
