The Sarah Lawrence College Center for the Urban River will become a part of the Beczak Environmental Education Center in Yonkers. The new center will be a field station, the first academic research facility in Yonkers outside the Sarah Lawrence campus and facilities.

The alliance and the Sarah Lawrence Center for the Urban River were made possible through a gift from Trustee Vicki Ford and her husband Si.

Sarah Lawrence College Dean Jerrilynn Dodds said the alliance and the new location would be beneficial to students and faculty alike.

“The location on the Hudson, with its access to the river and wetlands marsh, will be an extraordinary resource for the college’s faculty, students and academic partners,” she said. “In addition to research in the sciences and other disciplinary areas, the alliance will greatly enhance the scholastic foundation of environmental education instruction at the Beczak Center."
