Concordia College Math Teams Outperform Cal-Berkeley

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Nine Concordia College students comprising the Math Team competed recently in the 2016 International Contest in Mathematical Modeling.

The University of California at Berkeley is arguably the world leader in Modeling and Mathematical Statistics, and two of the three person Concordia College teams outperformed their Cal-Berkeley rivals in the event. 

The team of Ccptain Yameng Wang, Ruiheng Xiang, and Zhen Yang earned successful participant status in the competition. 

This was the same performance level as earned by Cal-Berkeley, West Point, Emory, Cal Poly, Virginia Tech, University of Washington and other international colleges and universities. The two teams of captain Yuling Zhang, Jeongmin Lee, Illeyana Graham and captain Elijah McGruder, SojeongLee, and Ho Jun Kim scored at the Honorable Mention level, outperforming Cal-Berkeley and other colleges and universities that earned Successful Participant status. 

The two Concordia College teams earned the same level of performance as Brown Univesity, Peking University, Duke University, Virginia Tech, University of Adelaide-Australia, University of Colorado along with other international colleges and universities.
