Competition Winners Named Mr. and Mrs. Bronxville

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- There was a dance-off, a football catching contest and toilet paper - lots of toilet paper - at the Bronxville High School Homecoming Pep Rally Friday afternoon.

After varsity players from all sports were introduced, there was serious competition to determine who would be named Mr. and Mrs. Bronxville, the Broncos version of homecoming king and queen. Although the competition was close, Brandon Walsh and Amy Pepe bested their opponents to be named Mr. and Mrs. Bronxville.

About a dozen couples competed for the title in events such as a mummy wrap, where one partner wrapped the other in toilet paper. There was also a football catch, pie eating contest and dance off.

Athletic Director Karen Peterson joked about how much toilet paper she bought from local stores on Thursday night, which earned her high marks from Mayor Mary Marvin for patronizing village stores.

On Saturday, the varsity teams will turn their attention to their opponents in homecoming matches that begin at 9:30 a.m. The homecoming finale belongs to the undefeated Bronxville Broncos Varsity Football team, which is taking on the Class A champions Pearl River Pirates at 7 p.m. under the lights.
