Members of the Bronxville High School chorus recently took a trip to Broadway to see the musical, where they went backstage and met members of the cast.
The trip was part of an annual program sponsored by Broadway Choral Workshops, which provides students with the opportunity to work with professional actors and performers.
This year, the students, who learned and practiced a vocal excerpt from the show in advanced, performed the song with cast members and other choir members during a workshop last week. They were also taught a segment of choreography and the “Wicked” cast members gave them a special performance.
“It’s exciting to put the vocal excerpt together with a large group of singers from the New York metropolitan area,” music teacher Pamela Simpson said. “The best part was hearing and seeing what we just learned come to life in the matinee performance.”
