Bronxville High School Students Named to Area All-State Ensembles

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Sixteen Bronxville High School students were recently named to area All-State music ensembles for the 2013 Area All-State Festival Concert on Nov. 7.

The Westchester County School Music Association selected the 16 students for the concert on Nov. 7 at SUNY Purchase, according to a press release. 

"Performers were chosen by WCSMA on the basis of auditions at last spring's New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Solo Festival," representatives said in the release. "WCSMA, the county arm of NYSSMA, sponsors the Area All-State Festival each year as the equivalent of an all-county festival for Westchester sophomores, juniors and seniors."

The following students were selected for the string orchestra: sophomore Hilary Rizzo (violin), juniors Henry Anderson (cello) and Morgan Taylor (cello), and senior John Kim (violin), according to the release

The following students were selected to the symphony orchestra: sophomore Fallon Raviol (violin), junior bassist Harry Pyle (bass), and seniors Elizabeth McGough (violin) and Kyle Swanson (flute and piccolo), according to the release. 

Swanson was also named to the 2013 New York All-State Symphonic Band, which performs in Rochester in December, according to the release. 

The following students were selected to the women's chorus: sophomores Noor Banihashem Ahmad (soprano) and Caroline Schetlick (alto) and seniors Rebecca Blanco (alto) and Jamie Carroll (soprano). Selected for the mixed chorus are sophomore Maria Louka (soprano), junior Kylie Regan (soprano), and seniors Spencer Borwick (bass) and Kenny Xue (bass), according to the release.
