Superintendent David Quattrone said the district is following the same process as the high school, but is approximately a week behind schedule.
The screening committee, which is chaired by Rachel Kelly, consists of three parents and three teachers. The committee has narrowed the field to four candidates, all of whom are current principals in the area.
Following the interviews with the final candidates, the committee discussed its findings with Quattrone, identifying strengths and weaknesses with each prospect.
“We are now in that phase of the process,” Quattrone said. “We are doing the reference checks, review of writing samples and follow-up conversations with candidates.”
At the beginning of the interview process, Quattrone, Kelly and John Kehoe reviewed 130 candidates, interviewed six of them and eventually narrowed the field to four finalists. The original timeline called for an April deadline, but Quattrone said that it will likely be completed by early May.
“Taking the time to be fully informed, balanced and thoughtful is in the best interests of everyone,” he said.
