The youths made Christmas banners that will be delivered to the hospitalized and homebound members of the congregation. Each youth also brought in a Christmas present that will be given to a child who is at risk or in foster care in Westchester County. Together the youths wrapped the toys, games, books, and other gifts that will help brighten another child's Christmas morning.
“Since we are blessed with more than we need, it is our responsibility to share with those less fortunate,” stated Kate Marino. This gift-giving event was part of GenerationOn and Hasbro's The Joy Maker Challenge. For every youth who participated in the youth group service event, Hasbro is donating one toy or game to Toys for Tots this Christmas season.
"It is great to see the youths of our congregation coming together and thinking of others during this wonderful season of Advent," said the Rev. Scott Geminn, associate pastor of Village Lutheran Church.
Kate Marino, The Chapel School music teacher for prekindergarten through grade two and youth minister of the Village Lutheran Church, organized the event. Village Lutheran Church and The Chapel School are at 172 White Plains Road.
