Cuce seen the position advertised in a press release, and thought it was a great opportunity because of her experience with adult education, she said.
"I've always admired the Bronxville Adult School because of its great reputation and ability to reach beyond Bronxville," sad Cuce. "Having an adult school in a community is an incredible resource for its residents to have. The school provides an ability to learn for a lifetime, which means starting from when you graduate high school and even benefiting people in their 90s. It's a way to keep up to date, and it's a way to stay involved socially."
The Bronxville Adult School is a nonprofit organization chartered by the New York State Board of Regents. The school is open to all adults in Bronxville and surrounding communities in Southern Westchester. It offers courses in personal growth, life-enhancing skills and cultural, intellectual and recreational activities.
Cuce comes to the school in its 70th year of operation, with a background in business and human services. She also has experience with non-profit management, most recently with the Jewish Community Center of Mid-Westchester in Scarsdale, where she was the assistant executive director.
The Bronxville Adult School is a phenomenal community treasure, and it will grow to best serve its students, said Cuce.
"I would like to continue expanding the program the way its been done,” said Cuce. “But I would also like to continue adding new technology-based classes like on iPhones in order to help everyone keep up with what's changing in the world. In an effort to do this I'm going to be very active in talking with the community, local organizations and school members to see what do they want most because it’s all about what they want in the end.”
