Chapel School Principal James Dhyne has been chosen by the Board of Directors of the Lutheran Schools Association as the "Educator of the Year" for his lifelong commitment to teaching local children.
The organization cited Dhyne’s “service in Lutheran schools over the span of his 44-year career, and his contributions to the Lutheran schools community” in the tri-state area. The award isn’t awarded annually, but is presented to individuals that “make a significant and longstanding contributions to Lutheran education."
According to Lutheran School Association Director Jessica Raba, “it has been noted by (Dhyne’s) colleagues and peers that (he) is someone well deserving of the title ‘Educator of the Year.’”
Dhyne will be celebrated at the Lutheran Schools Association’s Annual Dinner at Long Island Lutheran Middle and High School in May.
“ I have been extremely blessed to have served 44 years in 3 wonderful Lutheran schools,” he said. “I treasure the relationships I have built along the way. These past 17 years at The Chapel School have been such a joy.”
